I found this compelling. The monologue looking straight to camera helped put me in the shoes of the returning child, and to feel the expectation and pressure upon her, with the mother’s understandable emotion and desire for everything to be perfect. Beautifully written and performed.

  • Joanna Nicholson says:

Oh, Rosannah’s character – my heart really went out to her. She was trying so hard towards her daughter, to be welcoming and caring. I
What a wonderful piece, so well written and acted. I felt quite emotional.

A difficult subject superbly handled by Rosannah, and as usual sharply written by Jayne Woodhouse

When they have an award for lock down drama, this will win it.

  • Hannah Netting says:

Really enjoyed the one sided story telling, which the actress conveys all the responses to perfectly. Felt very human. Well done Jayne, for 6 mins I was focused solely on the great story telling.

What a brilliant performance! The interaction with the unseen daughter was so clever and yet again, so believable. Rosannah’s change in tone and facial expression throughout depicted her happiness for the daughter’s return alongside the underlying tension between them. Excellently written. Another captivating monologue. Can’t wait for the next!

  • Sandra Horn says:

I almost forgot to breathe, watching this mother so desperately trying to reach out to her unseen daughter – lovely, tentative, subtle work and another great piece of writing!

Wow that was a lot of emotions to hit in just 5 minutes! Very poignant and realistic depiction of a story thats not told often enough, that of those closest to people with mental health problems. The love and empathy came through but also the tension, the impatience for things to get back to normal and expectations on the returning child. Felt very realistic. Very well done!

      • Linda Hamilton-Ross says:

Very sharply observed. And Rosanah captured the tightrope walk really well.
Wanting to be close, needing to be hands off. Well done. ❤️

  • Hazel Dunn says:

Really enjoyed this monologue… brilliantly written, and Rosannah gave a superb performance…well done to writer and theatre company..
